ABOUT Us

The Kanu Heart Foundation

The Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded by world-renowned footballer Nwankwo Kanu after undergoing major heart surgery in 1999. Driven by a passion to give back, he established KHF to provide life-saving treatment for underprivileged African children and young adults suffering from heart conditions.

Since its launch in 2000, the foundation has successfully facilitated over 542 open-heart surgeries for children across Nigeria and other African countries, working with leading hospitals in England, Israel, India, and Nigeria. The journey began in London, where the first two beneficiaries underwent successful surgeries. As the demand grew, KHF expanded its partnerships, first with the Save-a-Child Heart organization in Israel, and later with hospitals in India, where high-quality cardiac care was more cost-effective.
